Welcome to the annual Jewish Food Faire, a cherished tradition hosted by Congregation Beth Shalom in Sacramento for the past 49 years. Our event celebrates the rich tapestry of Jewish culinary heritage, bringing together flavors, stories, and traditions that span generations. We have always been motivated by the theme “From Generation to Generation,” or “ l’dor v’dor”, highlighting the timeless recipes and cultural practices passed down through families, reflecting our vibrant community’s spirit and resilience.
Our Mission
The Sacramento Annual Jewish Food Faire brings people together through the universal language of food, celebrating the rich and diverse flavors of Jewish cuisine. Our mission is to foster cultural connection, support local makers and small businesses, and create an inclusive space where all communities can come together to share, learn, and enjoy.
We envision the Jewish Food Faire as a cornerstone community event in Sacramento—where tradition meets creativity, neighbors become friends, and culinary exploration inspires deeper understanding. By highlighting the warmth, stories, and global diversity of Jewish food, we aim to build bridges across cultures and generations through a delicious and joyful experience.
Our History
Since its inception 49 years ago, the Jewish Food Faire has grown into a beloved community event, drawing attendees from all over Sacramento and beyond. Founded by a dedicated group of Congregation Beth Shalom members, the Faire was envisioned as a way to share and celebrate Jewish culture through its diverse and delicious cuisine. Over the decades, it has evolved into a cornerstone of our synagogue’s community outreach, fostering connections and understanding through the universal language of food.
Our Community
Congregation Beth Shalom, a Reform synagogue in Sacramento, has been the proud host of the Jewish Food Faire. Our congregation is a warm, welcoming community that values inclusivity, tradition, and innovation. We strive to create a space where everyone feels at home, whether they are long-time members or first-time visitors. The Food Faire is a reflection of our commitment to these values, showcasing the culinary traditions that unite us and celebrating the new interpretations that keep our culture vibrant.
From Generation to Generation
The theme, “From Generation to Generation,” underscores the importance of preserving and passing down our culinary traditions. Our faire features recipes that have been cherished and handed down through families, as well as new creations that honor these traditions while bringing fresh perspectives to our table. Each dish tells a story of heritage, love, and community, connecting us to our roots and to each other.
